My Story:

After 49 years of doing the hamster-wheel in California, I finally left it all
and decided to see what Southeast Asia had to offer. I moved to the Philippines
for 6 years, experienced some of the best times of my entire life!

Now, I am exploring again and living in Vietnam. Join me as I venture out to see
more of Vietnam and the surrounding areas. I will share with you my thoughts on
what I see and how I handle the various challenges of living as a full-time expat
in Southeast Asia. For more photos and non-Youtube videos, join or follow my
Facebook page.

  2. I notice kim chi was on the menu there. Probably because quite a number of Koreans live nearby at Phu My Hung. By the way, "Tin" is pronounced as "Ton".

  3. That's a cool bbq place for sure! I noticed they only gave you one plate with the raw meat on it, were would you put the cooked meat when it's done? Why I say that is you cant use the same plate due to cross contamination…………….also what meat skewers did you end up getting?

  4. Outdoors ,nice evening friends about ,and your own B.B,Q. MY KIND OF LIVING ,  Thanks for the tour ,looks like fun .

  5. The herb they served is Rau Ram or Vietnamese Coriander, Polygonum odoratum. It is used in many S.E.A. countries and is also called Laksa Leaf. I can not over winter it in my area but I grow it all summer and is easy to start with the stems in water. I find it occasionally in my area but is usually in Intl markets in major areas, D.C. and Baltimore nearest me. I know the condiments come with the meal, but are the wet naps, peanuts and quail eggs extra charge items they just put on the table ?? I liked the video and hope to visit Saigon later this year.

  6. I liked that place, and the people looked genuinely and intelligently friendly. Boy! Wait until you learn the Vietnam language! There will be no stopping you!

  7. Excellent video as usual bro. Those kindof out of the way spots where you see alot of locals ALWAYS has the best food. Keep living the dream bro! Too bad we dont have spots like that here.

  8. Did you put the cooked meat back on the same plate as the raw meat was on ? ..I think that's why she gave you the green plate and tongs .

  9. I'm a bit ambivalent about do it yourself BBQs. On the one hand it allows you to cook the meat the way you want it. It is also quite cheap at 5000 dong a pop. Conversely when I go out to eat I don't expect to cook so my lazy DNA kicks in. Left Vietnam Thursday for home. Now I have to cook for myself or I starve or go broke. Good incentive. lol I already miss Saigon and my morning Banh Mi Opla.
