I really hope you enjoy this trip of over 1,600 km from Stockholm in Sweden up to Narvik in Norway. A true bucket-list journey, this is nowhere near as expensive as you’d think, and the only barriers you have in taking this trip are managing to brave the cold.

My tip: for snow, head there in April like I did. It’s a little above freezing and the thaw is beginning, but it’s still truly Arctic – watch the people on quad bikes and snowmobiles in my video! In summer, the snow mostly disappears, leaving behind a rich green landscape. It’s still a wonderful, beautiful place, but I rather prefer the snow myself! Don’t go in midwinter if you can help it – there’s not much daylight at that latitude!

  2. Would have loved to see that tripe in summer time with the trees in bloom 🙂 still beautiful landscape could be seen and snow IS beautiful 🙂

  3. This is much cheaper and comfortable than sleeper trains in Canada. Montreal to Halifax train which is about 20 hours costs over 500 Canadian dollars.

  4. Great video, but why does the locomotive have to change ends. I double checked the route on google maps, or does it just need to reverse before heading back to Stockholm.

  5. Norway is not an EU member. The no Border is due to Norden …that consist of Scandinavia and Finland. All these states have transparent border.

  6. Crossing the border between Norway, Sweden and Denmark has nothing gto do With the Schengen agreement. I am 64 years and I have travelled to Sweden And Denmark my whole
    Life without Passport.

  7. They can build a electrified train line to the arctic circle and Canada can't even build an electrified train line from any of its major cities.

  8. $78 for this trip? certainly affordable when a simple seat on Amtrak here in the US is $250 or more. Not only that, trains should learn from airlines and put seats that airlines use for business class in economy class on trains and those rooms to be like those very expensive hotel room business class for the trains especially the one that has the shower with it and the train can carry more water for the the bathrooms.
